José Almarcha Márquez was born in Tomelloso, (Ciudad Real, Spain), where he began learning the guitar from a very young age.

In 2009: He graduated from Conservatorio Superior de Música “Rafael Orozco” in Córdoba, where he studied flamenco guitar with renowned teachers such as Paco Serrano, Manolo Franco and Niño de Pura, among others.

Prizes and productions:

2004: Semi-finalist in the XXII International Competition of Jerez

2006: Recording of the album “El Quijote hecho flamenco” by Basilio Villalta

2007: Semi-finalist in the XLVII International Competition “Cante de las Minas de la Unión” (Murcia, Spain)

2007: First prize in the II International Flamenco Guitar Competition “Niño Ricardo” (Murcia)

2010: Semi-finalist in the L International Competition “Cante de las Minas de la Unión” (Murcia, Spain)

2010: Composition and direction of the production “Temple Flamenco” for Fran Vilchez flamenco company. The show premiered at the Harlequin Theatre in Madrid to critical acclaim and went on to tour Uruguay and Argentina.

2010: Recording of the album “Me quito el sombrero,” by Enriquito, alongside artists such as Jorge Pardo, Carlos Benavent, Sandra Carrasco and Juan Diego, among others.

2012: Participation in the production Rafael Amargo’s production “Ópera Flamenca,” touring to major theatres in Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Tianjin.

2015: Release of his first solo work, “Vejezate,” which included the collaboration of artists such as Antonio Canales, Juan Debel, Sandra Carrasco and Oscar Herrero, among others. The work was acclaimed by the critics and well received by the profession.

2015: Musical direction and composition with Gema Caballero for Sara Calero’s production “Cosmogonía.”

2015: Tour of the USA with the production “Momentos,” by Jose Porcel company.

2016: Musical direction and composition for the production “Entrar al juego,” by the great dancer and choreographer Marco Flores. The show premiered at the Villamarta Theatre during the Festival of Jeréz.

2017: Musical direction and composition of Sara Calero’s production “Petisa Loca,” alongside Gema Caballero and The Lab.

2017: Becomes a teacher in the faculty of Flamenco Dance at “Stage Festival D’arc,” Chateroux, France alongside Carmen Iglesias.

2017: Musical direction and composition of the production “Fase Alterna,” by Marco Flores Company.

2017: Musical direction and composition of the production “Ver, oir y bailar,” by the dancer Francisco Hidalgo.

2017 and 2018 Tour of the production “Encuentros” by José Porcel and Antonio Canales.

2018: Musical direction and composition of the production “Concordia,” by the dancers José Maldonado and Lucía de Miguel.

2018: Musical direction and composition of the production “Puntos inacabados” by the dancer Jesús Fernández

2018: Develops and performs the street production “Fandango Street,” with Sara Calero and Gema Caballero.

2018: Musical direction and composition of the production “1993” by the dancer Julio Ruíz.

2018: Musical direction and composition of the production “Término medio” by dancers José Jurado and Isabel Rodríguez.

2019: Musical direction and composition of the production “Bailes Colaterales” by José Manuel Álvarez Company.

2019: Musical direction and composition of the production “Impulsos” by José Porcel Company.

2019: Develops and performs the production “Flamenco Avenue” with Sara Calero and Gema Caballero.

2019: Musical direction and composition of the production “Maramante” by the dancers Lucía Ruibal and Marina Perea.

2019: Collaboration on “Wady,” an album by the brilliant violinist Víctor Guadiana.

2019: Becomes part of Olga Pericet’s company for the production “La espina que quiso ser flor o la flor que soñó con ser bailaora.”

2020: Collaboration with Víctor Guadiana to compose the music for the production “Eclat: fragmento desprendido de un cuerpo que explota,” by the dancer Adriana Bilbao.

2020: He compose the music for the CIA show “Lorca Reload”. Malucos Dance by choreographers Carlos Chamorro and Mariana Collado.

2020: Together with the Choreographer Marco Flores, he creates the show "Milonga, Sonata y Plata"

2021: He composes and directs the music for the show “Cruces” by Cía. Jose Manuel Älvarez which opens at the Dusseldorff festival.

2021: He composes and directs, together with Daniel Jurado, the music for the Carlos Rodríguez show “Amores Flamencos” with Bailaora Maria Cruz and Carmela Greco that premiered at the EDP Gran Vía theater in Madrid.

2021: He release his second solo album "Alejandra" in which he embarks on an intimate and personal journey and that, as in his previous work, takes a tour of his homeland and in which he pays tribute to different personalities of the same. With collaborations such as those of Luis Moneo, Sandra Carrasco, Pepe de Pura, Loreto de Diego, Marco Flores, Antonia Jimenez, Pedro Medina, Lucia Ruibal, Sara Dénez, Javi Ruibal, Víctor Guadiana, Kike Terrón, J.Manuel Posadas "Popo" among others.

2021: He is recognised in his hometown as “Viñador en el ámbito de la cultura”

He has worked with different companies accompanying cante and dance in countries such as EE.UU, Canada, Rusia, Sicilia, Suiza, Letonia, Francia, Alemania, China, Japón, Taiwán, India, Pakistán, Kazajstán, Argentina, Uruguay, Marruecos, Egipto, Emiratos Árabes, Arabia Saudí, Argelia, Túnez, Israel, Tanzania, Finlandia, Suecia, Inglaterra, Italia y México.
