Peter Manning - Conductor
The British Conductor, Artistic Director, and Arts Advisor Peter Manning is regarded as one of the leading interpreters and orchestra trainers in today’s orchestral, chamber, and opera scene. His international career has seen him perform and broadcast from the world’s leading concert halls and performance venues in Europe, America, and Asia.
His deep understanding of the role of classical music as a platform for the creative arts on the world’s stage has seen him conduct leading orchestras and opera orchestras, including the BBC Symphony Orchestra, The Dallas Opera, The Royal Philharmonic, the Malta Philharmonic, Malmö Symphony Orchestra, Odense Symphony Orchestra, and Dala Sinfonietta.
Peter was appointed as the youngest ever professor of violin at The Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester and as an Honorary Member and Professor at the Royal College of Music in London, going on to be appointed as visiting fellow in New Work at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and as a Professor at Edinburgh University. He was Music Director of the Mozart Kinder Orchester in Salzburg for the Mozart Woche over five seasons.

Peter has given masterclasses around the world from his earliest days with the Britten String Quartet (EMI exclusive artists) and was given the great honour of giving orchestra classes at the school of conducting at the Paris Conservatoire.
He is Founding Artistic Director of Chromatica Orchestra, an orchestra that he founded to revitalise the UK’s chamber orchestra scene for younger professionals, which works with the world’s greatest soloists and arts innovators and in a new initiative to develop the early careers of exceptional younger conductors in Chromatica’s Emerging Conductors Fellowship.
His musical advocacy and his innovative 21st-century passion to build access to live music for a new generation of performers and audiences stem from a unique and truly leading position in the British arts scene.

He was for ten years the leader of the Britten String Quartet (an EMI exclusive Quartet) and naturally positions as Concertmaster of the Royal Opera House for 18 seasons and formerly leader of the LPO and RPO have made him the recipient of a truly unique and heritage vision for Orchestras and Opera Orchestras of the future.

Peter is a board member of the National Campaign for the Arts in the United Kingdom, an Honorary Member of the Royal College of Music, Fellow of the Royal Northern College of Music, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts, has served three full terms as a board member for the Campaign for the Arts in the UK and has been recently elected to the Worshipful Company of Musicians in the City of London.
His great passion is to spread the arts to the widest possible amount of people, developing new audiences irrespective of background and believes in music as a primary driver for positive effect and social wellbeing; he reflects that music has a particular role in offering new approaches and opportunities for the creative industries across multi-sectors including social mobility particularly within our human-ai age.
